Her story

Jummai is a resilient woman who has faced life’s challenges with remarkable courage from a young age. After becoming physically disabled at the age of ten, she refused to let her circumstances define her future. Determined to build a life of purpose and independence, she moved to Abuja, learned hairdressing, and worked hard to create a better future for herself.

Along the way, Jummai found love and got married, but her journey has not been without hardship. Despite her strength and determination, she continues to face discrimination and unfair treatment in everyday life. Whether seeking medical care or simply trying to get around the city, she is too often met with prejudice instead of compassion and dignity.

Yet Jummai remains hopeful. She dreams of accessing the medical care and support she needs while continuing to build a life filled with opportunity, independence, and purpose. Her story is a powerful reminder of the resilience of women living with disabilities and the importance of creating a world where every woman is treated with the respect and dignity she deserves.
