At just thirteen years old, Fatima trusted a teacher who promised to help her transfer to a school closer to home…a solution her struggling parents desperately needed, as they could not always afford her transport fare. Instead of helping her, he drugged and sexually abused her. As a result of that horrific act, Fatima became pregnant and was forced to marry her abuser, ending her education at Junior Secondary School (JSS1) and robbing her of the childhood she deserved.
Yet even through these devastating setbacks, Fatima has not given up on her dreams. She still holds onto the hope of returning to the classroom, completing her education, and building a future defined not by what was taken from her, but by what she chooses to reclaim.
